In 2013, three years after sharing my first story, I started a show called The Stoop, because that’s where I learned how to tell stories.
The Stoop is my way of finding the other Lily Be’s out there, the other teen moms, the other less palatable brown women, the poor, the disenfranchised, the people who have no idea that a platform for their voice exists.

The Stoop Wants to Feature YOU!!

Over the years The Stoop has featured storytellers, writers, performers, and people from every corner of the city and beyond. The Stoop features ANYONE that feels they have a story to share. We like to say that the Stoop is more than a show, it’s a real life experience reminiscent of life on Chicago’s West-side hanging out on stoops, in backyards, and grandmothers front porch.

THE STOOP GIVES BACK

In 2016, three years after The Stoop debuted, we started to give back with a segment we called “Jag a Dollar” which was aimed at getting the audience to donate at least $1 to a local person, project, organization in need. The idea is that if we all mindlessly waste a dollar, we can also mindfully give $1 to someone that could put that dollar to good use.

Over the past three years, The Stoop has been able to support many community citizens and efforts all across Chicago.

Becoming a 501c3 organization is a way we can strengthen and extend our reach to do more for more people.
